Race Day

And I didn’t participate . . . once again. The big race day was this past Sunday and I still wasn’t ready for a 5k. We’re talking a 5k people. Not a marathon, not even a half marathon or a 10k. I have consistently been running since . . . February? I can’t really remember when I started. But for some reason, I can’t get past that 2 mile mark. In fact, 2 miles still isn’t easy breezy like I hoped it would be by now. Well, one time, several weeks ago, I ran 2.3, but I was outside. Maybe I should get OFF the treadmill and head outdoors – there’s a thought. Or like yesterday, I ran 2, walked .5 and then ran another .5. But I want to be able to run the entire 5k – no walking. Jeremy tells me it’s all in my head. I say it has a lot more to do with my lungs and legs than my head. So, once again I am postponing this run for another few weeks. I won’t even list the date that I am going to aim for because we all know how that goes.

Maybe the reason I am struggling so much with this running, is actually your lack of input. If you remember, I requested your song suggestions. And let me just say - I got nothing!! Well, my sister directed me to a helpful blog, so that was good. But friends, are you all ashamed/embarrassed of your move music?? Amanda M., Amy, Kristy (not to mention any specific names or anything). Whatever songs you list have nothing to do with your character or moral code. People won’t judge you. We are all open-minded here. I just NEED some new music and would love to hear your suggestions.

How shameful of you...blaming your friends for your lack of comittment :) Actually, I think you just need a partner. I never ran more than 2 miles on the treadmill, but when I had my friend beside me on the actual 5k trail it was easier. Probably cause we were both thinking, "Do you think she wants to stop? I want to stop but I don't want to be the one asking to stop, etc." So, neither of us ever stopped and then we realized that we could do it. We've run it three time now and we keep getting faster! I am hoping for a time of 33 min. on Sat. Is that pathetic or what?!? I will just be happy to have it over...I hate running!

Ok, hey I told you all mine that night at the house, don't know if I was the Amy or not,but here are a few.... Fergie-"Fergalicious" (remember no judging)My new favs is Leona Lewis-"Bleeding Love"and Chris Brown-"With You", Daughtry-"Its Not Over" oh and one more Jordin Sparks-"No Air"(the duet with Chris Brown)the first line is "tell me how I am supposed to breath with no air" fitting right. Hey the 5K I did I ran/walked and Carson was not even a year old and I never thought I would be able to even finish. I hate running too. You can do it and you could have done it this past weekend.I agree you just need a partner and you would run the whole thing.

Stop beating yourself up for not participating in a race yet. And it is OK to walk in a race! I did it in the Cowtown Marathon when I ran. So maybe get on the road or the track for a while. You can do it!
For working out on the treadmill here are some things I listen to:
I'd Rather Ride Around with You (Reba)
Just the Tequila Talking
Margaritaville
Take it Easy Eagles)
Under the Boardwalk
Don't KNow Much

I know, I know, a minister should not listen to song about drinking...so sue me! HA

Well it looks like you got lots of ideas, so you probably don't need anymore, but since you obviously pointed me out in your blog I will leave one. I was going to say that new Leona Lewis song that your sister had said. Unfortunately I don't go running. I do walk a lot but don't listen to my IPOD anymore as I was since having Aubrey. I would love to train myself to run though. Maybe after this baby is born!
