Clown Cake

So this is cake #2 for my class. I thought the clowns would be so difficult but they were actually pretty simple. My biggest challenge so far is just getting the cake iced neatly. And I hope by May 1st I am mastering the technique a bit better. This one came out a little topsy turvy, though you probably won't notice in the picture as much. I think when I added the second layer, things just went south. I didn't get it on evenly and it just made icing it all very difficult. So the clown cake . . . here it is. Kind of cute, I think. And so now I am wondering if Holden's birthday might need a clown theme. The clown heads are plastic, but the bodies are made of icing and that is the part that we learned in class today. Only one more class to go. Stay tuned for next week's Rose Cake. Chocolate cake and chocolate icing has been requested by Jeremy's co-worker. So chocolate on chocolate it will be!

The cake looks great. I've always wanted to learn how to decorate cakes, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe some day.

Good job! Are you enjoying the decorating? I'm so slow at it, I decided I'd have to charge mega-bucks to make it worth my while! =)
