Off to school!

Holden is officially a school boy! Well, for the sake of my sanity he is now going to Mother's Day Out every Monday. If he were still our only child, we wouldn't be doing this. But when Jeremy came home to me in tears a few days back in the fall, he was ready to get us enrolled. So we did. It gives me a day where I can go to the grocery store without having to plan around 2 schedules that still aren't cooperating together. We found a great little church program that is just a 10 minute drive from our house. Holden has now been 2 weeks. Yesterday when I went to drop him off, he ran the opposite direction in tears. :( What? That's not my child. He runs into any church nursery and goes for the toys. (Normally something with wheels that he can push. This past Sunday it was a shopping cart.) For whatever reason, Monday he didn't want to leave his momma. But when I asked him to give his teacher a hug, he reached for her. I gave him a quick kiss goodbye and Paxton and I made a quick escape. I knew he would be fine once we were gone. He is our social butterfly. And they tell me he did wonderfully, once again. They have noted his demeanor for both weeks as "friendly" and "busy". I love that. And I sure believe it! They noted that he eats most of his lunch. He has taken Lunchables both weeks. I can't believe my little Holden is eating Lunchables!! Any lunch ideas for me that don't need to be heated or refrigerated? And no to PB&J. That would be a total mess for those teachers. For the month of January they are learning the color "white" and talking about the scripture "God made winter." Psalm 74:17. He always comes home with a craft or picture. See below at the stellar artwork of my child. We may just have a Picasso on our hands. Anyways, I like to think that Holden is enjoying his Monday adventures. Here he is before we headed off to "school" yesterday.Goodness, finally a couple of decent pictures. Now you see what the teachers mean by "busy"? :) And yes, I was trying to get him to model his cute new backpack and lunchbox. We decided he needed a new backpack to carry his naptime sleeping aids: paci, blankie and mister froggy.

And his latest masterpieces . . .Warms your heart, doesn't it? :)

What a big boy! I am sure he is loving his little Monday adventures. Wouldn't it be fun to be a fly on the wall sometimes and see how they are in that kind of setting?

Love the backpack!

Oh, how cute! Your guy seems so much older than mine who's the same age. I can't imagine him doing any ART! Wow! I have not sent anyone to preschool until age 4, so my lunch ideas are more along those lines: fold-over sandwich, cheese stick, pretzels, cut-up fruit (apple, pear, strawberries), banana, granola bar, veggie sticks (carrots, celery), and always a water bottle, and a napkin with a little note from Mommy. :)

I used to send a grilled cheese sandwhich for Thomas. He didn't seem to care if it was cold by the time he ate it. Otherwise, little sandwhiches or something of the like. Both boys are seriously cute! Love seeing pics of them!

Oh my goodness, he looks somuch older--especially with the big boy backpack! I am a true believer in Mother's Day Out programs. I think it makes me a better Mom when I can get a few hours of "me time". And I think it's also good for them to get a little social time with someone other than Mom!

Okay, Holden is going to get so much out of MDO and think of it this way...it's time alone with Pax that you had with Holden, and haven't had with Pax. I sent owen when I knew COoper was coming and I would need time alone with him. Owen was 1. Cooper has gone since he was 2 months. Sissy was about 3 months before she went. Give yourself a break momma, this is hard work when they are so young and so close. You are an incredible mom!!!! Lunch ideas: homemade lunchables (ritz crackers, cheese, turkey in a ziploc), apples, string cheese, raisans, grapes, cheese quesadilla, graham crackers w/ pb, fruit snacks and...that's all I can come up with for now! Hope it helps!
